Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) athlete Ese Brume who finished fifth in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games long jump competition has once again achieved important success. Ese Brume was invited to compete in the Diamond League which is the most prestigious athletics competition after the Olympic Games, with a letter written by the organizing company Athletissima’s CEO Jacky Delapierre. At the competition which took place in Lozan, Switzerland on Thursday, the 5th of July 2018 Ese Brume finished fourth with a jump of 6.66. In a competition that took place in Jamaica, Ese Brume had jumped 17 centimeters further than American Olympic and World Champion Shakeelah Saunders to obtain first place.
Preparation for 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games
Despite being only 21, Ese Brume is one of the favorites for gold at the 2020 Tokyo Games. Brume is continuing her training with EMU Sports Affairs Directorate coaches Hasan Maydon and Yaya Kayode. The athlete who EMU supports in every regard made one of the best jumps of the year with a 6.82 jump. In his statement coach Hasan Maydon indicated that Brume jumped to a personal best this year and that she is ready to fight for the gold at all competitions.
