Assoc. Prof. Dr. Demirel put forth that technology development areas and Technoparks bring the university and industry together. As it is in the other places, research and development based on advanced technology have been put into practice in TRNC through Technopark through collaborations with EMU, TRNC Chamber of Industry and Lefke American University. Prof. Dr. Süha Bayındır and his team have been working on the 3D Google Earth modelling of the EMU Campus. Through this application, EMU campus can now be viewed through Google Earth. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Demirel also stated that in addition to the buildings in EMU, a 3D Google Earth Model has been created for Gazimağusa Lala Mustafa Paşa Mosque. Demirel added that Famagusta TechnoPark is developing an Information Based 3D Tourist Guide for the effective promotion of TRNC worldwide. Using the 3D modeling of TRNC and the interactive guide online, it will be possible to view 3D models of historical and touristic locations in TRNC, to watch panoramic views of the touristic buildings and reach informational audio on these locations in several languages.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Demirel put forth that as well as young entrepreneurs, a considerable number of EMU students and academicians carry out projects under Technopark which houses up-to-date technological equipment such as a 3D Laser Scanner, 3D Laser Printer, 3 Axis CNC Equipment, and the first humanoid robot of TRNC. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Demirel added that the center has a Micro control laboratory, PCB Design development and production systems and GIS laboratories which can all provide services for the TRNC industry upon request.
