ISO 9001: 2008

Along with the quality assurance projects aiming international accreditation at each academic unit within the University,  Eastern Mediterranean University puts considerable importance for quality assurance in administrative units. Within this framework, various administrative units in EMU went through ISO 9001: 2008 inspection by Kerim Dişbudak, National Quality Assurance (NQA) Turkey representative, between 22 and 24 February 2011 and passed the inspection successfully.   

Ekrem Cengizoğlu and Mete Ünlücan, internal inspectors at EMU, listed the administrative units which passed the inspection as follows: EMU Higher Administration, Eastern Mediterranean Primary School, Eastern Mediterranean College, Eastern Mediterranean University Continuing Education Center, EMU Dormitories Directorate, EMU Technical Affairs Directorate, EMU Housing and Transportation Unit, EMU Security Unit and EMU Technical Affairs Unit.

ISO 9001 standards are revised and published by ISO every 5 years in line with the applicants’ views and needs.  

Cengizoğlu and Ünlücan put forth that since ISO:9001 2008 quality management system is used at national and international levels,  it is essential that companies and institutions adopt it to raise their standards. Cengizoğlu and Ünlücan listed the benefits of ISO:9001 2008 as follows: 

·        Development of the understanding of quality within the company/institution,

·        Increasing the profits, productivity and the market share,

·        Effective administration,

·        Reducing the costs,

·        Employee satisfaction,

·        Improving internal communication at the institution/company,

·        Extensive monitoring and controlling of all activities,

·        Decreasing refunds,

·        Minimising customer complaints and increasing satisfaction
