About the School
In this age of increasing international competition and speeding technological developments, the mission of the Eastern Mediterranean University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management is to train highly qualified people for the tourism sector in Turkey and in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
When the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management was established in 1990, it offered only an A.A.S. degree. In 1992 it started offering a BS degree in tourism and hospitality management, and in 2002, in recreation management. The School places special emphasis on computer and foreign language education.
Considering the needs of the tourism sector, the School also emphasizes practical training besides theoretical education. To serve this purpose, the demo kitchen and the Tower restaurant and Beach Club, the world-wide used computer programs FIDELIO, GALILEO, and AMADEUS all aim to provide students with practical knowledge and an education which matches the needs of the scientific and technological era.
The philosophy of the School is to provide an education which will enable its students to graduate with the ability to think, to express themselves with grace and clarity in writing and speech, to maintain values in relation to their chosen profession, and to demonstrate confidence in themselves.
Educational Objectives
With its tourism and hospitality and recreation management programs, the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management aims to be the leading educational institution in the Mediterranean region in preparing managerial candidates that will generate knowledge, and have the ability and skills to develop and practice this knowledge accordingly. Another aim of our school is to prepare our students for the most promising sector in the future. Aside from raising the level of educational quality, to reach these aims, an elite group of faculty has been formed from academics who have major publications in international journals, and from experienced academics who have given many years to the sector.
