General Information
Eastern Mediterranean University serves its student community not only through its various Research Centers but also with three Institutes in different academic fields. These Institutes are: The Institute of Graduate Studies and Research, The Institute of Research and Development in Advanced Technologies, and The Institute of Distance Education.
The Institute of Graduate Studies and Research runs 20 graduate programs with a thesis, 5 graduate programs without a thesis, and 13 PhD programs. The aim of the Institute of Research and Development in Advanced Technologies is to achieve and spread developments in advanced technologies, and in this way to impact industry as well as society. The aim of the Institute of Distance Education is to prepare and implement vocational four-year undergraduate distance-education programs. The Institute also offers continuing education certificate programs on Computer Technologies and Software.
Institute of graduate studies and Research
The Graduate Studies and Research Institute is the academic body in charge of planning, implementing, overseeing, and providing support to all educational activities offered within the framework of all graduate programs at Eastern Mediterranean University , in collaboration with other academic bodies.
Aim: The aim of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research is to collaborate with the departments, and to prepare, develop, and implement educational programs in a scholarly environment. The Institute of Graduate Studies and Research offers educational programs that will equip the students from all academic disciplines with the ability to be critical thinkers and competent researchers.
Master's and Doctoral Level Graduate Programs: The Eastern Mediterranean University Institute of Graduate Studies and Research currently runs 13 Doctoral level, 20 Master's level graduate programs with a thesis requirement, and 5 Master's level graduate programs with a non-thesis requirement.
The minimum course requirement in the Master's level program with thesis is 7 courses (21 credit hours) and a graduation thesis. The minimum course load for the non-thesis Master's level program is 10 courses (30 credit hours) in addition to a graduation project, or 14 courses (40 credit hours) if the student prefers not prepare a graduation project.. On the other hand, the number of courses required in the Doctoral level programs is 6 courses (18 credit hours) in addition to the doctoral dissertation. |
