Program Mission
The mission of
our program is to support the development in our students of an
econometric/statistical tools-set to test economic models, and
to quantitatively evaluate financial/economic markets and
policies; the ability to conduct data analysis using Eviews and
other statistical packages as applicable; and the understanding
of different quantitative techniques and tools and the
assumptions required for these tools to work effectively for
problem solving; critical thinking skills through learning to
apply economic theory and tools to real world applications and
economic issues as well as understanding the basic economic
theory.

Why to Study Econometrics in EMU?
The Department offers courses in English and
uses up-to-date technologies such as computers, software,
internet facilities and multimedia rooms. The Department
updates its program and its courses periodically and in
accordance with recent developments in the discipline and
software. The Department is fully committed to provide the
students with most effective and contemporary education in
Econometrics in small size groups with the support of staff
members competent in their discipline.
The Qualifications of Our Graduates
Graduates will gain the capacity to select
and use appropriate econometrics methods, engage in independent
empirical research for solving problems pertaining to
microeconomic problems in institutions or financial markets or
macroeconomic policy issues.
Job Opportunities
Graduates with good knowledge in both
economic theory and econometric methods are mostly sought by
Ministry of Economics and Finance, State Planning Organizations,
government statistics institutes, Central Banks, private firms
operating in financial markets and other private institutions
dealing with financial investments. |
