The Faculty of Communication and Media Studies attempts to educate and graduate students, who are:
- able to analyze sociologically, culturally, economically and politically
- able to effectively use available communication technologies
- critical of their respective profession and of world matters
- creative thinkers
- ethical and socially responsible
- flexible enough to follow, update and apply the new developments in the industry of journalism; public relations and advertising; radio-television and visual communication.
About the Faculty
The Faculty of Communication and Media Studies houses Public Relations and Advertising; Journalism; Radio-Television and Film Studies and Visual Arts and Visual Communication . The Faculty brings forth a multinational mix of academics and students, therefore providing the students with a unique environment of multiculturalism and multilingualism. Additional to the respective department's course requirements, students can take elective and common courses to realize a multidimensional approach to Communication studies. Our Faculty features a Media Center and Public Relations and Advertising Project Center , additional to the in-house media EMU-TV, Radio EMU, Gundem Newspaper and GundemNet, currently on air and in publication. These facilities provide students with industrial professional experience. Furthermore, the Faculty offers Masters and PhD programs where students can develop their academic careers.
Educational Objectives
Our aim is to develop and successfully graduate students who have the required qualities of a global and national communication environment; who can comfortably use the new technologies available individually or together in a creative manner; who execute their industrial knowledge as critical thinkers with an ethical and social responsibility. By doing so, our students will be able to adapt to industry requirements of technological advancement as well as be creative and critical thinkers operating ethically and be defenders of freedom of speech while getting ready for their professional lives.
