Full – Time Academic Position in Ottoman/Early Republic Turkish History, Department of History – Faculty of Arts and Science.  

Eastern Mediterranean University, Department of History invites applications for 2 full-time assistant/associate professorships.  

1. Assistant/Associate professorship in Medieval History. The applicants with research interest in history of Medieval Cyprus, Eastern Mediterranean, Byzantine Empire or the history of the Middle East will be given strong consideration.  

2. Assistant/associate professorship in Ottoman History. The applicants with research interest in 17-19 century economic/social history of the Ottoman Empire with emphasis on Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus will be given strong consideration. 

Required qualifications include a completed PhD in History, or equivalent; a promising record of publications and the ability to teach in English. Experience in teaching/supervision at all levels will be considered an asset. The successful candidates will be expected to teach survey courses in more than one area of specialisation as well as more specialised undergraduate/graduate courses. The Department emphasizes quality of research, and the preference will be given to candidates with ISI publication record in the field. Salary and benefits are as prescribed by the Eastern Mediterranean University. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable. Position will commence 15 September 2008.
