Full – Time Academic Staff Position in Industrial Design, Department of Industrial Design – Faculty of Architecture.

Job Description

The Department of Industrial Design invites qualified individuals to apply for a position at the rank of Assistant / Associate Professor with initial appointment from Fall Semester 2007. Candidates will be responsible for the instruction of a design studio (industry based projects) and lecture classes in various subjects related to Industrial Design (Design and Structure, Materials, etc.). The faculty are also responsible for doing scholarly research and publication, serving on appropriate department and university committees, and advising to a diverse population of students.

Qualifications

Qualification for this appointment includes a graduate degree from an accredited institution with at least a master's degree in industrial design. Applicants for an Assistant Professor appointment should either have completed a Ph.D. degree in related areas and should have published research in indexed journals or should have a considerable practical experience in the field. All applicants should have potential for excellence in teaching and research. Applicants with work experience in all branches and/or research interests in all areas of industrial Design are encouraged to apply. A mixture of two is most preferable. Teaching experience in a related branch is also as important.

Term of Employment

EMU offers a competitive salary. The initial appointment is for eleven months starting September 15, 2008, renewable for two years, contingent upon successful performance.
