Job Description
The Department of English Literature and Humanities invites
applications for a position to teach at undergraduate and graduate
levels. The department’s curriculum consists of English literature,
cultural studies and literary theory. It is expected that the
successful candidate would teach within a generalist framework and
have interdisciplinary interests in literature and in other related
fields of the humanities. The department is interested in
candidates with a developed theoretical interest in areas such as
the following: semiotics, contemporary literary theory, cultural
studies, gender studies, philosophy, literary studies, and
comparative literature.
Qualifications
The candidates should have a PhD in hand. Experience and commitment
to teaching is expected. Candidates must be actively engaged in
research leading to publication and will be expected to contribute
to departmental administration, projects, and activities. In
addition, international experience and/or openness towards new
experiences and cultures are highly desired.

Term of Employment
EMU offers a competitive salary. The initial appointment is for
eleven months starting September 15, 2008, renewable for two years,
contingent upon successful performance.
